When addiction has taken over, and the financial burden of a lost job or overspent money that has resulted from the use of drugs has already set in, considering the high cost of treatment can be heartbreaking. Counseling & Therapy

rehab for free

Free rehabs strive to provide a high quality of treatment to help people recover from addiction.

Many different types of counseling and therapy are provided to patients in free drug rehab centers. This is the foundation of treatment for people who are addicted to any type of substance or behavior. Individual counseling, group counseling and an array of behavioral therapy methods are some of the most common types of treatment at free drug rehab centers.

Medications

Although most free drug rehab centers cannot afford to provide medications to all patients, there have been some that provide low cost medications to their patients on an as needed basis. Methadone is a very commonly used medication that helps to curb cravings for those who are addicted to opiates. This medication is often provided at free drug rehab centers to help patient remain clean and sober.

Support

Probably one of the greatest gifts that can be offered by free drug rehab centers is support. An absolutely necessary element of every type of treatment, support creates a bond between the patient and those around them that helps to evoke healing and trust. Support is found in many types of 12-step treatment at free drug rehab centers such as AA or NA as well as in the counselors, therapists, family and friends that share in the treatment process. Patients even find support in other patients who are going through similar situations of recovery and healing.

Education

Education goes a long way in helping people to understand the issues that they are dealing with and it can greatly reduce the emotional impact that drug addiction has on both the user and on his or her loved ones.

SAMHSA offers a number of family education videos that help the loved ones of those addicted to better understand the challenges that are faced in recovery while also providing guidance and support in methods of care that are offered to those in need. Sessions focus on triggers and cravings, understanding the various phases of recovery and also providing insight into the common reactions that family members have when dealing with addiction.
